University of Cumbria

Life at the University of Cumbria is about more than working towards a degree. One of the most enjoyable aspects of university life is becoming part of campus and local communities.

Ambleside: What makes Ambleside a great place to live is that it's in the heart of the Lake District, which means you will have some of the gorgeous wonders of nature on your doorstep. If your idea of a good time is watching the sunset over a lake, feeling the spray of a 70-foot waterfall on your face or riding a mountain bike down something tall and craggy, then Ambleside is the place to be.

Carlisle:With a bustling city centre - including a wide range of high street chains and independent shops - to open surroundings and beautiful parks, Carlisle is a modern but spacious location to live and study. We're not known as The Great Border City for nothing!

Lancaster:Lancaster is a vibrant and cosmopolitan university city, home to around 15,000 students from all over the world. It's a compact city, making it easy to live and study here.

The town is in a great location, close to the sea, hills and mountains. The campus is just a ten minute walk from the town centre.

On campus, their facilities are excellent. Students have access to our library with a diverse collection of over 160,000 items covering most subject areas, a sports complex and all weather pitch on site.

Penrith:Penrith is located in the north east corner of the Lake District, overlooking the magnificent Cumbria fells. The campus is in a beautiful rural setting about a mile outside the town.

Set in landscaped gardens and with impressive facilities, the campus provides a delightful environment for both living and working. Just off the M6 and with its own mainline station, Penrith is easy to reach.
